Rocking for a Cause: Billy Gibbons Signs Stacey Wells' Art to Help Find a Cure for Cancer
Thank You, Billy F. Gibbons! Honouring a Beautiful Friendship Through Art
I’m beyond grateful to share a special moment that beautifully intertwines art, friendship, and a noble cause. Recently, I had the honour of creating a piece of art dedicated to my dear friend Therese, who adored Billy F. Gibbons. In a heartfelt gesture, Billy signed my artwork in her honour, and I felt Therese’s spirit smiling down on us. This piece will be auctioned off to help find a cure for cancer, and I couldn't think of a more fitting tribute.
This artwork features Billy, sporting his iconic shades. In one lens, I reflected the famous Las Vegas sign—a nod to my cherished memories with Therese and her husband, who were my first friends in Vegas. In the other lens, you’ll find a reflection of Dusty Hill, honouring Billy’s lifelong bandmate. It’s a blend of nostalgia and love that perfectly captures the spirit of our friendship.
I met Therese and Rob at my first Vegas show about eight years ago. Their warmth and enthusiasm for my art instantly made us fast friends. From that day on, I always looked forward to visiting them in Vegas, sharing laughter, adventures, and unforgettable memories.
Therese had the biggest heart. She was a loving and loyal friend who made everyone feel special. I’ll forever cherish her words, “You made me feel so loved.” Her passing left a tremendous void in my life, and I miss her dearly. I can still hear her voice saying, “I miss you, girl!”—a phone call that always led to spontaneous adventures and joy.
Creating this art in memory of Therese has been cathartic. Knowing that it could help someone else avoid the heartbreak of losing a loved one gives it even more meaning.
Billy loved the artwork, and I hope you do too! Let’s honour Therese’s spirit together and work toward a future where we can all survive and thrive.
Thank you, Billy, for your kindness and for keeping Therese’s memory alive through your support! 💛
